Do I have to have a beer at every brewery?

Your registration includes a pint (or non-alcoholic drink) at our noon brewery stop of Half Cut, and a pint a our finish line afterparty at Graystone as well.

You have the option of getting a beer at the other 4 breweries, however, you don’t need to have a pint at all 6 of the breweries to be considered a finisher, just ride the entire route. We do encourage you to stop and enjoy the local culture, whether it’s an alcoholic beverage or not. The Challenge is specifically not a race – it’s about enjoying a full day of mountain biking and socializing with friends, and have a day that you’ll remember for a very long time.

The breweries are spaced out well so that you have two of them around lunch time, and then after most of the mountain biking is done, the last four are your victory lap through all corners of the city, connected by singletrack.

Is the course going to be signed?

Nope! You will be sent a GPX file before the event that is to be loaded on your GPS device. In order to be considered a Finisher, you must complete the entire route as presented. You can of course leave the route if you need to resupply, but you must enter it again where you left it. This is to be done on an Honour system – we trust you!

A GPS device is required to take part in the event!

Do I need to be an expert mountain biker?

Not at all. You do, of course, need to know how to ride singletrack as this route goes through 9 different mountain bike trail systems. None of the singletrack is extremely technical, however, while we’ve mixed in a lot the new, fast, flowy singletrack that we all know and love, we have also connected through a few sections of old-school tech, where the going will be slow and you’ll remember what mountain bike trails used to look like.

Rather than be an expert mountain biker, you’ll want to know how to pace yourself and keep yourself fuelled as you ride from sunrise to after sunset.

Do I get something at the end?

Yes, we’ll have our after party at Graystone Brewing in downtown Fredericton, where every finisher will receive a pint of the beer (or non-alcoholic drink) of their choice, as well as a special Finisher token that you will have truly deserved.

Finishing this is an achievement that you’ll remember.

What happens if I scratch? Can I get picked up?

Given the self-supported nature of the event, you are responsible for getting back to the start/finish if you decide not to finish the course. The route loops back through town twice, so there are opportunities to scratch if you really feel the need. However, we’d encourage you to keep riding – you’ll be glad you did!

Even if you quit riding, you can join us for a beer at the afterparty at Graystone – a pint is included in your registration and we’d love to see everybody at the finish line!
